Vila Valetta translates into English as the House of the Princess and remains in the ownership of the Portuguese Royal family.
On the western part of the Algarve, the house is perched on the cliffs of Ferragudo. It faces west over the bay of Lagos and towards Sagres and the setting sun. The view is of the peaceful waters of the Algarve coast and yachts making their way from the marinas and of fishing boats passing in front of the house.
Across the wide estuary is a distant view along Praia Rocha beach that is well known to the many visitors to the Algarve region of Portugal
Vila Valetta has been completely refurbished and updated to modern standards.
There are 9 bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, sleeping 19 persons spread over three floors of the building.
The house’s original furniture has been restored, and the bedrooms have been refurbished in a more modern style but retain the original beds, which incorporate the family coat of arms.
Outside there are extensive terraces and a swimming pool overlooking the sea. A downstairs bar and toilet are available from the pool which also has a poolside shower.
Villa Valetta consists of the following:
Ground floor: Main hall – Overlooking the terrace and the sea, it has a beautiful grand piano; Entrance hall and dressing room with double doors leading to a private chapel. A formal dining room with seating for 8 at the main table plus 8-10 at two circular tables; A breakfast room; The terrace with a retractable awning and tables to eat outside, for 16 people; A music room; The kitchen; 2 double bedrooms with en-suite shower / bath and sea view with doors leading to terraces; 2 twin bedroom with en-suite shower / bath also with sea view and doors leading to terraces overlooking the river.
Lower Ground Floor: One TV room with flat screen TV and DVD player, a bar and one cloakroom; One triple children’s bedroom en-suite and with sitting area also with doors leading out from the sitting area on to the pool terrace.
First Floor: 1 twin bedroom with en-suite bath/shower rooms and garden view; 1 double bedroom with en-suite bath/shower rooms and garden view; 1 twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom and sitting room; 1 twin bedroom with sea view and doors leading out onto a terrace.
